Fukushima: High Level Cesium Detected from Beef Not Fed with Radioactive Rice Hay

August 20, 2011

They’re talking about lifting the shipping ban for beef from Fukushima. I don’t know how much food gets produced from Chernobyl these days but I’m guessing the answer is, not much. In fact there are even parts of Germany and Wales that received fallout from Chernobyl to the point they cannot be used today for farming (some areas of Wales) or (unrestricted) hunting (in Germany’s case).

1945: Hey, I wonder what would happen if we dropped one of those h-bombs on a city full of people?

Well there’s only one way to find out, test it on the Japanese! (esp. Christians in that case, Hiroshima/Nagasaki were among the most Christian areas of Japan)

2011: Hey, I wonder what would happen if there was a meltdown like at Chernobyl but where people lived in the fallout?

Well there’s only one way to find out…

Of course, I should say, people really did live in the fallout at Chernobyl too. And the Soviet government tried to cover up everything, and the best estimates are that around 1 million people died as a result of Chernobyl (the UN says 8000, you can trust them). But the Fukushima meltdown could be worse especially if the MOX fuel melted down to any extent.
